Spacefest 2009 in San Diego, CA was a place to be for International Association of Astronomical Artists (IAAA). The venue was packed with a large number of pioneer astronauts and test pilots, top-notch scientific speakers and astronomers, and Sci-Fi actors.
Kim and Sally Poor put together to most professional four day event at Town & Country Resort and Convention Center. This resort was fully equipped with magnificent restaurants, exquisite landscaping, pools, golf courses, and spas. Kim and Sally Poor found the best spot and one did not have to worry about the California traffic because everything was available in one spot. It was an easy stretch from Tucson, AZ. By our map, take I-10 towards Phoenix, AZ, and turn west onto I-8, and voila, a few hours later, you are at the resort. The climate was perfect.

The Space Art was well represented at Spacefest 2009 and some of the highest quality of works were on display. Compared to Spacefest 2007, only a handful of IAAA members appeared and Rouch hope to see more artists participate at the next Spacefest event. It was fun to see again Dr. Dan Durda, Paul and Chris Calle, Don Davis, Frank Hettick, and the unforgettable Mikey Carroll, as well as finally meet Jon Ramer and his lovely family.
Great discussions with Buzz Aldrin, Charlie Duke, Gene Cernan and Alan Bean.
Hope to see everyone again at the next Spacefest event.
